Reproductive Rights
For nearly half a century, the protections established by Roe v. Wade served as a cornerstone for women's reproductive rights, ensuring a measure of personal freedom and healthcare access. With its overturn in 2022, communities across the nation have faced the challenge of re-evaluating their stance on critical issues such as abortion, birth control, women’s fertility, and maternal healthcare rights.
Here in Kansas, the path is clear. Our citizens have spoken loudly, affirming their commitment to preserving the reproductive rights safeguarded by our state constitution. This decision underscores a fundamental belief that deeply personal healthcare decisions should be guided by individual faith, conscience, and medical advice, not by restrictive legislation.
As your senator, I am committed to upholding the will of Kansans and ensuring that our laws reflect these core principles:
Safeguarding Privacy and Autonomy: I will oppose any legislation that seeks to undermine a woman’s right to make informed decisions about her reproductive health, in line with the protections provided by the Kansas Constitution.
Expanding Access to Healthcare: My priority is to enhance access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare services, including birth control, fertility treatments, and maternal healthcare, to ensure that all individuals have the resources they need to make the best decisions for their health and families.
Supporting Families: I advocate for policies that support families, such as paid family leave, affordable childcare, and healthcare coverage, to improve the quality of life for all Kansans and create a nurturing environment for children to thrive.
My role as a legislator is not to dictate personal decisions but to facilitate an environment where every individual can access the care they need and make choices that are right for them, free from unnecessary barriers or judgment.
